BLAST Studio Fitness Manager

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation: Base salary, plus classes and profiles. Benefits available.

Position Summary: The BLAST Fitness Manager is responsible for managing all fitness operations, activities and team members in their assigned studio. They will work closely with the studio’s Sales & Operations Manager in order to bring the front and back of the house together to work seamlessly as a team. The Fitness Manager is also responsible for working with the Fitness Director to source, interview, and upscale instructors, as well as the hiring and training of in-class assistants. In addition, they are responsible for participating in the design and implementation of the community outreach program, and providing a consistently excellent customer experience for our clients once they are in the studio. As the lead fitness authority figure in the studio, the Fitness Manager will also be fully trained and able to teach classes, assist classes and provide Metabolic Profile testing. The Fitness Manager will represent BLAST by living an active and healthy lifestyle.

Schedule: The Fitness Manager is responsible for working variable hours as needed; minimum of 5 days and 40 hours per week, spending at least 25 hours of scheduled in-studio time covering front desk and operational duties. Total hours will be broken down between fitness operations management, front desk shifts, instructing and performing Metabolic Profiles. Must be available on weekends, most holidays, and on-call for unforseen or emergency situations.

Responsibilities Include, But Not Limited To:

Fitness Staff Management

  • Responsible for fitness team administration, management and development (Includes Instructors, Assistants and Metabolic Profile Specialists)
    • Serve as primary point of contact for issues, communication and team building
    • In charge of managing schedule and subs for classes and profiles, and to be last resort coverage for both if necessary
    • Responsible for carrying out proper disciplinary action when needed
    • Work with Fitness Director to source, interview, hire and train new fitness team members
    • Continuously upscale and develop existing fitness team members

Fitness Studio Operations

  • Responsible for the overall upkeep of facility, including all fitness equipment and treadmills
    • Ensure space and equipment are staying clean and well organized
    • Handle the setup and oversee any repairs as needed
  • In charge of all fitness equipment inventory, damaging out equipment when necessary, and ordering to ensure the proper amount of each equipment is on hand at all times
  • Serve as point of contact for all A/V and studio technology

In-Studio Sales & Business Development

  • Assist Director of Sales & Operations in developing sales strategies to include fitness team in the sales process
  • Responsible for working with Sales & Operations Manager to reach in-studio sales targets on a monthly basis
  • Work directly with Sales & Operations Manager to develop a calendar of events either to attend in the community or have in-studio
  • Identify and build strategic partnerships in the surrounding community in order to drive brand awareness and a constant flow of new clients
  • Identify and engage with influencers in the fitness / social community to serve as Brand Ambassadors of BLAST

Client Experience

  • Work with Sales & Operations Manager to upkeep studio appearance on a daily basis, plus setup for any holidays, etc.
  • Develop and maintain a client-centric culture where the gold standard is upheld in every interaction with BLAST clients

Social Content

  • Work with Marketing Director to deliver content for social media throughout the week

  • Ability to effectively manage a team and build team culture
  • Prior fitness and group teaching experience mandatory
  • MINDBODY proficiency is a plus

Required Education / Experience:

  • Current or previous nationally accredited group/personal training certification and/or a degree in exercise science, physical therapy or equivalent
  • 3+ years of management experience
